Original language description
Due to the enormous complexity of the multiphase hydrodynamics, both theoretical and experimental approaches to the subject are limited. Very fruitful seems to be the application of various CFD numerical codes designed for solving the basic equations ofmotion within a proper modeling concept (e.g. DNS, Lagrange-Euler, Euler-Euler). We employed the commercial software package FLUENT version 6.1 to investigate its suitability for bridging the gap between simplified theoretical considerations about and particular experimental data on gas-liquid hydrodynamics in bubble column. We present some selected results of our recent CFD effort.
