Original language description
The two-phase gas-liquid flow system occurring inside bubble column reactors/contactors is of great complexity displaying striking relevance of many time and length scales inherently involved in the multiphase hydrodynamics. Besides current intensive experimental and theoretical attempts at understanding the underlying physical mechanisms and their coupling, the numerical modeling performed on yet approximate 'fundamental equations of motion' of the bubbly mixture can bring certain insight into certainwell-defined situations and provide pieces of information inaccessible otherwise. We present some results documenting the multiscale complexity of gas-liquid flows based on numerical experiments obtained with Fluent.
