Influence of crystallization conditions on segregation characteristics of alloying elements in tungsten and molybdenum single crystals

  • Original language description

The segregation phenomena and the formation of growth bands and cores during the crystallization have been studied experimentally. Low-alloyed single crystals of W and Mo doped with Ta were prepared by the electron beam floating zone melting (EBFZM) applying three different zone pass rates. The electron wave dispersive analysis was used for determination of concentration of admixtures on longitudinal sections. On the basis of chemical analysis, growth bands were found in these single crystals; they arecharacterized by sinusoidal waves of concentration profiles. Furthermore, concentration relations in the crystal and frozen zone were determined in order to ascertain effective segregation coefficients of alloying elements. Experimental investigations were performed in order to evaluate relations between chemical inhomogeneity and structural defects and their influence on some properties of single crystals.

Vliv podmínek krystalizace na segregační charakteristiky legujících prvku v monokrystalech wolframu a molybdenu

  • Czech description

Experimentálně byly studovány segregační jevy a vznik růstových pásu a jader během krystalizace. Nízkolegované monokrystaly wolframu a molybdenu s tantalem byly připraveny elektronovým zonálním tavením (metoda FZ) třemi různými rychlostmi průchodu zóny.Ke stanovení koncentračních profilů legujícího prvku v podélném směru vzorku byla použita elektronová vlnově disperzní mikroanalýza. Na základě chemické analýzy byly nalezeny růstové pásy, projevující se sinusovým průběhem koncentračních profilů. Dále byly stanoveny metodou ztuhlé zóny efektivní rozdělovací koeficienty tantalu ve wolframu a molybdenu pro dané krystalizační podmínky.
