DAMAGE OF ALLOY 800 AFTER LOW TEMPERATURE SENSITIZATION
Original language description
Failure of the Alloy 800 (Cr21Ni33TiAl), exposed in chemical industrial furnace to the temperature range from 450 up to 650°C, became on the lower temperature part. Two methods ? Electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation test (EPR) and drop evaporation test (DET) reveal the deleterious effect of lower temperature and confirm low temperature sensitization of Alloy 800 after 30000 hours working time. These results are in agreement with measured concentration profiles of Cr at grain boundaries as well as stress corrosion cracking tests in MgCl2 solution. Polarization curves of carbides and intermetallic phases that influence intergranular corrosion and cracking of Alloy 800 were also compared and discussed.
