    Thermal dehydration of phtalic acid

  • Original language description

    Phthalic anhydride is produced by partial oxidation of o- xylene and naphthalene. Raw product contains variable amount of undesirable phthalic acid which is subsequently removed by thermal dehydration. Products of removal process are phthalic anhydride and water. Small laboratory scale batch experiments are first steps for optimization of industrial case of thermal dehydration carried on DEZA Valašské Meziříčí. Power- law equation for kinetic description of dehydration and Arrhenius equation for temperature dependence of rate constant has been used. Experimental data was treated by linear regression for both integral and differential data treating method.
