Ni-Al based inter-metallic compounds are very interesting from physical and metallurgical viewpoints. Possibility of their application in demanding environment, particularly at increased and high temperatures with influence of oxidising atmosphere is ofgreat importance. Directional crystallisation offers a possibility of influencing structure and properties of the final product. Several samples with composition 23 and 24 at. % Al were prepared for experimental purposes, both in cast form and after directional crystallisation. Thermal expansion was measured by contact dilatometer and it was compared in dependence on the rate of directional crystallisation, on the initial method of material preparation and on the aluminium contents. The measurement wasmade with use of the contact dilatometer. Coefficient of thermal expansion was in the measurement interval from 20 to 1000°C lower in material with lower Al content.
