Influence of the type of reduction schedule on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties upon drawing of a near-eutectoid wire
Original language description
This paper is devoted to drawing of wires, the changes in their microstructure and the resulting impact on their mechanical properties. Important technological factors, which affect the resulting microstructure, include one-pass and accumulated strains and the type of the schedule of reduction used. The purpose of the experiment was to assess the influence of the type of the schedule of reduction on the microstructure and mechanical properties upon drawing of a near-eutectoid wire. We examined not onlymechanical properties of the wire (strength, number of revolutions and number of bending cycles to fracture) but also their changes during the drawing process. We also compared the series of changes in microstructure taking place during drawing accordingto different reduction plans. The microstructures were examined by means of metallographic techniques involving a scanning electron microscope. Series of tensile tests and technological tests were undertaken to measure mechanical propert
