Formation of ultra-fine grained structure and mechanical properties by ECAP deformation
Original language description
Commercial pure titanium was deformed by equal channel angular pressing ( ECAP) using up to 8 passes. The evolution of microstructure and fracture character were observed by optical microscopy (OM) and spectral analysis microscopy (SEM). The mean grain size decreased with increasing deformation, after 8 passes to 300 nm. Microscopy analysis suggested the possible ultra-fine structure mechanism by the formation of cellular structure in grains, forming of subgrains and then forming of high angle grains with random orientation. Fractures of ECAP titanium material after 8 passes had transcrystall ductile character with dimple morphology.
