The Influence of the Friction Coefficient and of the Reducing of the Diameter in the Individual Pass on the Homogeneity of the Strain Field during Drawing of Steel Wire for Tyre Forde
Original language description
The wire rod for steel tire cords is used in production of steel tire cords to reinforce automobile tires, conveyer belts and pressure hoses. It is manufactured from high carbon steels that meet high requirements for quality, its testing and inspection.By means of cold drawing a wire up to diameter 0.15 mm and the tensile strength up to 4,000 MPa is achieved. The material should meet strict criteria in terms of its dynamic loading response. In practical applications, its resistance to dynamic loading is tested in reverse bending. The final number of bends to fracture strongly depends on the arrangement of pearlite microstructure in the cross section of the wire. The drawing technology causes inhomogeneity of microstructure and mechanical properties inthe cross-section of pearlitic steel wires. The purpose of this paper is evaluation of influence of the drawing die geometry and friction coefficient on microstructure of the drawn wire.
