Effect of thermomechanical cycling on a transformation behaviour of Ni-51.8 at % Ti alloy
Original language description
System Ni-Ti is based on equi-atomic compound of nickel and titanium. Ni-Ti based alloys are highly stable and resistant to corrosion and they have some special characteristics. One of the most important abilities is a shape memory effect, which ranges these materials among the so called ?intelligent? materials. For successful use in practice it is very important to know transformation characteristics of these sophisticated alloys. To recognize transformation processes in these materials Ti-rich binaryNi-Ti alloy (Ni-51.8 at. % Ti) was developed whereon the effect of mechanical and thermal loading was investigated. It is possible to measure transformation temperatures by deformation methods, by DSC, DTA or by resistometric methods. Our researches consist of thermo-mechanic cycling, metallographic observation and DSC heat flux measurement. It was found, that in this alloy only Ti2Ni precipitates occur, probably single phase transformation B2 to B19´ is realized in this alloy. Effect of
