    Control of castings rejection is directly connected with the economy of foundry production. The proper and fast recognition of casting defect is the way to the elimination. The powerful tool for defect diagnosis is an expert system. It is a computer program based on knowledge of experts for solving the quality of castings. We present the system which consists of three separate modulus : identification, diagnosis / causes and prevention/remedy. The identification of casting defects in the actual form ofsystem is based on their visual aspect.
