Steel slag treatment for secondary recovery
Original language description
This work is focused on the issue of secondary use possibilities of steel slag. The greatest attention is devoted to the tap steel slag use possibility in metallurgy, where this kind of slag with minor adjustments in composition can be used for hot repairs of steelmaking furnaces basic linings. Attention is devoted to the possibility of new methods of using right steel slag for the specific conditions of tandem furnaces. The experimental part is a complex of sub-tests that examine some important properties of steel slag, such as chemical and phase composition of the slag, its viscosity and surface tension. There is evaluated the slag behaviour by temperature and composition changes and also mutual interaction between the slag and particular refractories. The work?s result is to find appropriate parameters of modified steel slag that create from the steel slag as a by-product with little utility a fully-fledged repair material for tandem furnace linings.
