Structural properties of recrystallization-annealed W-Ir wires under various conditions
Original language description
The aim of the present work was to study characteristics of alloys on the base W-Ir after a recrystallization annealing in the vacuum electron beam zone furnace under various conditions as a potential method for obtaining a single crystalline structure. The initial material was a wire W-0.5 wt% Ir, diameter 0.5 mm. Influences of the temperature speed and number of the hot zone passes on structural properties were particularly studied. The optical light microscope and FEG SEM in connection with EBSD analysis were used for evaluation of structural characteristics. The annealing consisted of three passes of the hot zone by the speeds 1 and 3 mm/min in the temperature range 1900 to 2200°C. It follows from the EBSD analysis that most of grain boundaries aresmall-angle ones. It was found from the detail scans that some grains consist of a number of diminutive grains with high-angle boundaries.
