Original language description
Intermetallic alloy based on TiAl and doped with Nb was studied. Cast rods of Ti-45Al-10Nb and Ti-40Al-15Nb were homogenized at 1100°C for 12 hours in Ar and water quenched from 700°C. Hydrogen effect on microstructure of specimens was investigated afterheat treatment at 700 °C for 8 hours in Ar atmosphere as well as in hydrogen flowing gas. Metallographic study completed with microhardness measurement and EDS microanalysis revealed that lamellar microstructure of the samples in as-cast and heat treated conditions was formed of the gama (45 at.% Al) and alfa2 (41 at.% Al) phases. Decreasing microhardness values were found after annealing and quenching. Effect of hydrogen on the lamellar microstructure as well as the microhardness values was studied inthe hydrogen-charged and hydrogen-free conditions.
