Possibilities of comparing results of physical and mathematical modelling in the area of metal rolling
Original language description
The objective of the paper is to describe the methodology of comparing cross-sections of rolled bars, both for real rolled stocks, virtual rolled stocks acquired by mathematical simulation and for ideal cross-section shapes designed during roll grooving. The base of the methodology lies in acquiring a 3D model of the rolled stock surface. Scanning 3D models was carried out by device LIMESS 3D CAM.Further processing was carried out by our own algorithms and it is common for 3D-scanned bodies as well as bodies from the FEM simulation results. Transformation from a 3D shape to 2D description of the cross-section profile of the rolled bar uses transformation from the Cartesian to polar system. Results are presented for selected passes used for rolling barsof 20 mm in diameter in the light section mill in ŽDB a.s.
