Intercalation of humic acids on clay minerals by different procedures and study of intercalates properties using methods of chemical analysis

  • Original language description

This contribution was focused to the sorption of humic acids (HA) at pH 6 in the form of Ca- or Na-humates of concentration about 100 mg/l on clay minerals (SWy-2 and SAz-1, Vermiculite and two foundry clays - Sabenile C30 partially natrificated with Na+and Bentonite 75). Intercalates were washed with CaCl2 and NaCl solutions and with demineralized water and the amount of HA adsorbed on clay minerals was determined as well as the forms of HA participated in intercalation on clays (procedure A). So-called ratios of E4/E6 (humification degree of HA) and E3/E4 (molecules size of HA, UV-VIS spectroscopy) for given procedures were determined as well. It was found out that into clays SWy-2 and SAz-1 using the procedure A both HA and fulvic acids (FA) were intercalated, whereas for the other clays it was probably only FA. Using the procedures D and F probably only FA were intercalated. Except intercalation of HA also complexation process has largely taken place.
