Precipitation of ZnS nanoparticles and their deposition on montmorillonite
Original language description
ZnS nanoparticles were prepared by the precipitation of zinc acetate with sodium sulphide in aqueous solutions. The originated colloidal dispersions were stabilized by the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium (CTA). The ZnS nanoparticles size of 4nm was estimated from band-gap energies obtained from UV spectra. The nanoparticles were deposited on Na-rich montmorillonite (MMT). The size of created MMT agglomerates (ZnS-MMT-CTA) was measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. The mean size of ZnS-MMT-CTA was about 300 nm and the total volume was about 38 vol.% higher than that of MMT. ZnS-MMT-CTA was dried at 105 oC and - 24 oC and studied by field emission electron microscopy (FESEM). Unlike the heated nanocomposite, the frozen one exhibited the porous structure.
