Water soluble foundry cores from inorganic salts

  • Original language description

Results of measurements of strength characteristics of salt cores from NaCl, KCl compacted with pressures up to 56 MPa and composites NaCl + 10 - 30 % ZrSiO4, KCl + 10 - 30 % ZrSiO4 compacted with pressure of 100 MPa are presented. Primary bending strength and hot strength (650 °C) too were studied. In comparison with NaCl the cores from KCl showed considerably higher strengths the cold values of which exceeded the common strengths of cores with synthetic resins (> 8 MPa). Further on the high values ofhot strength at composite mixtures (KCl + 10 - 30% ZrSiO4) exceeding 9 MPa were determined.
