Implementation of the comprehensive set of hot torsion tests on the torsion plastometer SETARAM made it possible to examine the deformation behaviour of the low alloyed steel 42CrMo4 in the range of deformation temperatures 800 to 1100 °C. For the description of stress-strain curves the models of flow stress and mean flow stress, derived before, were used. The data gained by the torsion test were a basis for determination of material constants in the particular models of deformation resistance by meansof the multiple nonlinear regression within the statistic programme Unistat 5.6. The determination coefficients defined for both models of deformation resistance prove that the accomplished regression analysis was fully successful. The values of relativedeviations were, for both investigated models, in the range ? 15 %. Considering the wide range of the chosen deformation parameters, this scattering of deviations may be taken as a comparatively good result.
