Multi-Criteria Inventory Analysis and Classification in Metallurgical and Mechanical Engineering Industries
Original language description
Inventory analysis and classification is one of the classical approaches to optimization and inventory management. Many companies today use partial methods which usually classify inventory according to a single criterion. Metallurgical industry and mechanical engineering are, however, characterized by a large number of inventory items of different nature, from the input material, through goods in process and the finished products to stock of spare parts, tools and production jigs or samples. In such conditions, it is necessary to analyze and classify inventory in terms of higher number of criteria, to select the appropriate priorities of the chosen criteria, their threshold values and the number of analyzed periods. The objective of the article is to design a multi-criteria inventory analysis and classification, suitable for metallurgical and mechanical engineering companies.
