Influence of thermal expansion in the utilization of hybrid sands
Original language description
Goal of this study is the evaluation of thermo physical properties of commonly used silica and no-silica sands. As samples of silica sand were chosen following materials: Šajdikove Humence (Š35ŠH), used as standard, Grudzeń Las (from Polish region) and Provodin (from Czech region) silica sand. The second group (no ? silica sands) consist of olivine, dunite and chamotte. Basic physical and chemistry properties of silica sands, granulometry analysis and shape of grain were determined in order to obtain basic thermo physical parameters of testing sand samples (dilatation characteristics). The main objective of this study is confirmation of basic theoretical assumptions of dilatometry behavior of foundry sands. On the basis of obtained results the hybrid sand with linear dilatometry without cristobalite expansion, specific for silica sand, was proposed and dilatometry behavior of this testing sand was determined in order to confirmation of linear dilatation curves of proposed hybrid sand.
