Influence of temperature and SiO2 concentration on viscosity of molten oxide systems
Original language description
The presented paper is focused on the study of viscosity of oxide systems, which form the basis of metallurgical slags and casting powders. Viscosity is one of the most important physical properties of slag, in view of its direct effect on kinetic conditions of the processes. Viscosity of molten slag is related to internal structure of oxide melt and it is very sensitive to changes of temperature and slag composition. In this work the influence of temperature and SiO2 concentration on viscosity was researched. The ternary system of CaO-Al2O3-SiO2, which presents simplified base of the casting powders used for continuous casting of steel, was chosen for the experiment. For an assessment of the influence of SiO2 concentration on the oxide system viscosity, a concentration series with the addition of 3; 6; 9; 12 and 15 wt. % of SiO2 was prepared. Experimental measurement of viscosity of melts is very difficult, namely because of the need to operate at high temperatures. The viscosity meas
