    The nature is the great source of inspiration for complex problems solving across the wide range of research areas, including management of industrial systems. This paper presents an overview of biologically inspired optimization algorithms, it deals with their taxonomy and nomenclature and describes their abilities and advantages. Current applications and possible uses in the management of industrial systems, as well as further research suggestions are also discussed.
