Effect of Waste and Alternative Fuels on Blast-Furnace Operation
Original language description
World pig iron production is in 98 % generated by traditional blast furnace technology. The disadvantage of this technology is low rate of utilization of reduction chemical energy. The current production of pig iron contends with a serious problem of coke shortage, which causes its prices growing. The coke production is expensive and despite all technical arrangement ecologically burdens the environment. One of the main arrangements is a partial alternation of coke by other hydrocarbon reductive agentsinjected into the tuyeres. The injection of hydrocarbons into a blast furnace causes changes in reduction and heating order of the blast furnace. The amount of top and crucible gas increases as well as the hydrogen content in the gas according to the injected fuel (ratio C/H2 referring about these elements weight in the fuel ) resulting in the changes in reduction rate (change in the grade of direct reduction of wüstit). For the evaluation of alternative fuel effect and their economic ef
