Study of interactions between moldint materials and magnesium alloys melt metal
Original language description
It is necessary to use a covering and/or protecting materials to prevent interactions of melt metal and air (air O2) during magnesium alloy casting production. Regarding to surface quality it is also necessary to monitor mutual interactions of alloy andmaterial of mold and/or core respectively. The goal of this contribution is a study of influence of cores based on inorganic salts on structure and surface quality of casting manufactured from magnesium alloy AZ91 for gravity casting. Within the experiments a casting surface quality by cores and changes of surface layer structure were studied with employing metallographic and SEM analysis.
