Influence of heat treatment, subsequent cooling conditions and forging on AZ61 alloy microstructure
Original language description
Results of experiments, focused on AZ61 alloy microstructure development after heat treatment, subsequent cooling in different media and forging, are summarized in this paper. The T4 type heat treatment was applied to the alloy. Important role of the Mg17Al12 ß-phase in this alloy during plastic forming was confirmed. After forging, the original grain size was reduced almost 14 times down to a value around 9 ?m, which was accompanied with very fine particles formation in the Mg matrix.
