A comparison of textural, petrographic and coking characteristics in different types of coal
Original language description
This paper presents a comparison of two types of coals taken from different locations. The first set of samples were a well-coking coals suitable for use in coke production, the other one were a bad-coking coals used for energy purposes. Both sets of coals on the basis of their textural parameters measured at the device AutoPore IV 9500 Series (i.e. the bulk density BD, average pore diameter APD and porosity P), the degree of coalification (the content of volatile combustibles Vdaf and vitrinite reflectance Ro) and petrographic composition (the content of vitrinite, inertinite and liptinite) were compared. Moreover, for these two types of coals a mutual correlation relationships between the above parameters and other measured characteristics (the moisture content Wa, ash content Ad and so called coking parameters, i.e. the swelling index SI, contraction a and dilation b) were investigated. The aim of this study was also the determination of total carbon Ctd and sulfur Std in the resist
