Knowledge of the processes interconnected to steelmaking technologies is an essential precondition for continuous improvement of the quality of cast steel. The process of continuous casting of steel depends not only on the physical properties of steel, but also on many technological parameters. More accurate knowledge of the fundamental physical properties of solids and steel casting process parameters is therefore more up to date. Characteristics and quality of the continuously cast steel is closely related with the process of its own solidification. Important measures of the solidification process, inter alia, phase transformation temperatures, in particular the solidus and liquidus temperatures. Accurate knowledge of the liquidus temperature (TL) isparticularly important for the temperature overheating of steel before casting.
