    The monograph deals with the assessment of the success of tree growth on the spoil heaps of the Ostrava-Karviná district. The research was effected with regard to soil forming substrate (transport reclaimable soil or spoil rock) and the trees origin (trees planting for the land of reclamation or trees originated by the way of spontaneous succession. The study focuses on the heap-property relationship (analysis of the soil substrate), increment of trees and chlorophyll fluorescence. The survey was conducted in the summer and autumn in the years 2009 ? 2011 in the Ostrava-Karviná district. There were examined 9 spoil heaps and 13 kinds of trees. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the site spoil rock conditions on the growth and development of the tree species used in reclamation of the Ostrava-Karviná district, using dependency properties identified habitats, tree species and chlorophyll fluorescence.
