The influence of severe plastic deformation on texture and substructure in a newly developed Mg-Dy-Al-Zn-Zr alloy
Original language description
The aim of the paper was to investigate substructure characteristics of a newly developed Mg-Dy-Al-Zn-Zr alloy after severe plastic deformation (SPD). The specimens in as cast state and previously annealed were deformed by high pressure torsion (HPT), three revolutions at room temperature. In the as-cast microstructure, three structure phases occurred. A significant decrease of grain size with increasing annealing temperature was achieved; ultrafine grains of an area smaller than 10 ?m2 were observed especially in the sample annealed at 300°C for 16h (up to 80%). Fibre type textures formed from the initial random texture orientations after deformation, as well as differences in texture orientations indicate activation of various slip systems.
