Local structure of explosive welded titanium-stainless bimetal.
Original language description
Microstructure of the CrNi steel/Ti bimetal after explosive welding was characterized by means of micro-X-ray diffraction applying a hard (99.16keV) monochromatic X-ray beam focused down to a size of 2.2 mx34 m. Phase analysis performed about fcc-Fe andbcc-Fe (approx. 94 vol. % and 6 vol. %). On the Ti-side, 170 m from the interface center, hcp-Ti and residual austenite (94 vol. % and 6 vol. %) were detected. In the weld, microstructure consisted austenite (75.7 vol. %), hcp-Ti (14.5 vol. %), bcc-Fe (0.8 vol. %) a newly formed hexagonal intermetallic phase Fe2Ti (8.9 vol. %). Dimensions of existing phases and/or lattice parameters are also described in work.
