Analysis of the distribution of macrosegregation large steel ingot and its influence on the steel properties
Original language description
Heavy forging steel ingots are used in metallurgy engineering for the production of large forgings. This production of heavy forging ingots is usually accompanied by a segregation of elements in the structure of steel. The segregation of the elements causes anisotropy of mechanical properties. But these mechanical parts must meet the strictest criteria, and therefore must be practically free of defects. Detailed analysis of the distribution of macrosegregation in 90 tons steel ingot was performed in order to improve quality of forgings. Production of experimental ingot was monitored in detail including using of the thermal camera during casting and solidification of the ingot. Boundary conditions of numerical simulations of the process of steel ingot casing and solidification were set on the basis of this experimental measurement. The different shape and material of the mold as well as different casting temperature and casting velocity were tested during simulations. New shape of the i
