Development of advanced materials for centrifugal casting rolls
Original language description
The paper focuses on increasing the mechanical properties (tensile strength, hardness, elongation) of the ductile iron, used for the roll neck and roll core of centrifugal composite casting rolls designed for the hot strip mill. The specific for this ductile iron is low carbon C = 3.0% and minimum alloying elements like Cr,Cu and other (foundry requirement). That a reason why is difficult to fulfill the contradictory requirements to increase tensile and hardness while increasing the ductility. Ductile iron has been optimized by adjustment Si/C ratio the default cast iron and various variants of nodulizing process, and inoculation. All samples were prepared in laboratory conditions and evaluated for mechanical and structural properties.
