    Cordierite nanocomposite particles with addition of zinc oxide

  • Original language description

    Cordierite particles and nanocomposite cordierite particles were prepared by mechanochemical synthesis using mixture of kaolinite, talc, vermiculite, Al2O3 and ZnO particles. The morphology of powder samples was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the new phase growth was monitored using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The particles size (PS) changes were expressed by the median particle size (d50), volume-weighted mean diameter (d43), mode diameter (dm) and span value. The addition of ZnO to cordierite pre-ceramic mixtures caused the creation of new crystalline phase gahnite (ZnAl2O4).
