    Design of Experiment Method for Optimization of the Systhesis of g-C3N4 Photocatalyst

    Graphitic carbon nitrid (g-C3N4) is intensively studied material for photocatalytic application, mainly for photocatalytic degradation of pollutants in water and air. Several methods for g-C3N4 preparation exist, whereas thermal polymerization of suitable precusors (urea, melamine, dicyanamide etc.) is the most often used. In this research, g-C3N4 was prepared by the thermal polymerization of melamine and tuning of the calcination conditions was performed usin Design of Experiment approach (DOE). Five factors, such as temperature ramp rate, final temperature, hold time, cooling rate and amput of initial melamine, were selected and tested on two levels: 3 and 10oC/min, 500 and 550oC, 0 and 1h, shock and slow cooling, 2.5 and 10 g. A half testing plan including 16 caltination experiments was set using fractional factorial design. Yield of g-C3N4 and its photodegradation activity against model dye acid orange 7 werw used as the measured output of the experiments.
