Effects of temperature and pressure on the geometry of a gas pipeline
Original language description
In the present article, the effects of temperature and pressure are analysed in relation to changes in the geometry of transit pipeline located in Slovakia, resulting in a pressure loss of the transported gas. The focus of the analysis is the effect of the relative pressure, which ranged from 0 MPa to 6 MPa, and of the temperature, which ranged from 0 oC to 25 oC, on the DN1200/17 and DN1400/16 pipes. The pipe deformation was numerically simulated using COSMOS/M and ANSYS CFX software products. The results showed that the inner surface and the length of the pipe changed linearly with the temperature at all the examined pressure levels. The surface always exhibited an enlargement, while the length increased at lower pressures and higher temperatures but decreased at higher pressures and lower temperatures. At a mass flow rate of 305 kg.m-2.s-1, with an input pressure of 6 MPa and an output pressure of 5 MPa, the pressure loss decreased by a maximum of 0.25 %.
