Verification of quality rotor cages by Electromagnetic Field

  • Original language description

The paper focuses on the creation of a simulation model, describing a diagnostic method for determining the casting quality of the rotor cage of an induction motor with a squirrel rotor cage. The principles of the electromagnetic field are used for diagnostics. The simulation itself is performed in Ansys Maxwell software. In case of interruption or non-casting of the rotor bar during production to lead increase the impedance of the rotor bar and thus lead to decrease the current in the bar. This results in an unbalanced rotor field, which leads to a change in torque by one rotor revolution. The article primarily builds a model of an induction motor in 2D, with damaged rotor bars. The effect of the damage is then examined by a device that senses the induced voltage. This is then further investigated. In the future, the practical compilation of diagnostic methods is also being considered, which will be addressed in connection with a successfully tested model. Due to the fact that a method has not been yet developed that reliably detects failures of rotor bars, this paper was created. (C) 2022 IEEE.
