The aim of the present studies was to investigate the effect of two-step annealing processesin air, first for 8 h at 600 oC and second for 0.5 h at 700 oC - 1200 oC, and Dy3+ ionsdoping concentration on the photoluminescence, morphological and structural propertiesof LaVO4 powders. The solid-state method was used to prepare the luminescent material.The small amounts of the powder after the HEBM (before heating) process were analyzedby in situ XRD analysis to observe the changes in the LaVO4 :Dy 3+ crystal structure as afunction of temperature in the range from room temperature to 1100 oC. The luminescenceproperties of the powders were examined using excitation (PLE) and photoluminescence(PL) spectra. The crystal structure and phase purity were analyzed by the X-ray powderdiffraction method (ex-situ XRD and in-situ XRD). The morphologies of the samples were studied using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). All the measurements, exceptin-situ XRD, were performed at room temperature.
