Dichloromethane oxidation over Pt/TiO2-CeO2 prepared using titanyl sulphate as TiO2 precursor
Original language description
A set of Pt/TiO2-CeO2 catalysts in different molar Ti:Ce compositions and parent Pt/TiO2 and Pt/CeO2 catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation and impregnation, using titanyl sulfate as a precursor of TiO2. Prepared catalysts were investigated in oxidation of 500 ppm of dichloromethane in moist conditions (1.5 vol.% of H2O) in the temperature range of 100-500 oC at WHSV of 71 m3/kgcat-1h-1 via light-off tests. Pt/TiO2 catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity, achieving 100% dichloromethane conversion, as well as HCl yield. Concerning unwanted by-products, while CH2O and CO were detected over all Pt/TiO2-CeO2 and Pt/TiO2 catalysts, over Pt/CeO2 traces of CO and CHCl3 were identified.
