The paper deals with generating the factors which determine the development in the regions of the Czech Republic and the consequential classification of these regions in the years 1997, 2000 and 2002. The result of the factor analysis is the extraction of three factors which copy the situation on the regional labor market, the state of the environment and the factor that reflects the demographic development. In the paper, the regions profile with respect to these factors during the studied period is being followed. Hierarchical cluster analysis has identified four significant clusters of the regions that slightly change with time, however, the significant differences among the Prague region, the region of Central Bohemia and further Moravian-Silesian region as well as Ustecky region remain obvious (perceptible).

Článek se zabývá generováním faktorů, které determinují vývoj regionů v ČR a následuje klasifikace těchto regionů v letech 1997, 2000 a 2002. Výsledkem faktorové analýzy je extrakce tří faktorů, které kopírují situaci na regionálním trhu práce, životníhoprostředí a demografický vývoj. Hierarchická shlukovací analýza identifikovala 4 významné klastry regionů a jejich změny v čase.
