Importance of labour mobility as an adjustment mechanism in euro area and Slovakia
Original language description
Labour mobility is the first criterion of Optimum Currency Area. Theory. R. Mundell concluded in 1961 that in the case of fixed exchange rate among countries must be met sufficient mobility of production factors, especially the factor of labour. The currency area is therefore optimal if it achieves a high mobility of production factors, especially the factor of labour. Mobility of production factors may compensate the loss of instruments of monetary and exchange rate policy associated with the entry into the monetary. There are discussed the possibilities with labour mobility as an adjustment mechanism in the EU and especially in Slovakia. It can be said that the labour mobility does not serve as an effective adjustment mechanism in EU (and euro area)and also in Slovakia.
