The EU Cohesion and Competitiveness in Theory and Practice
Original language description
Competitiveness and cohesion are two complementary objectives, which determine the long-term development of the European Union. In practice, these objectives are implemented by EU Cohesion Policy and its development programmes aimed at reducing disparities in member states and their regions, and by EU`s growth strategies (the EU Lisbon Strategy and the Strategy Europe 2020), aimed primarily at strengthening the competitiveness and development of European territory. The aim of the paper is to present anoverview of the most used theoretical approaches on cohesion and competitiveness and to evaluate prospects for implementation in terms of the EU.
