Original language description
The development of regional industry clusters in Czechia has had very short tradition so far as the concept of clusters has become known only at the beginning of this century. Surprisingly public aid for cluster development was approved at the governmental level very soon and the top-down approach strategy followed. The objective of the paper is to identify the basic phases of cluster development in the Czech regions and to describe the impact of public financing on cluster formation and establishment stemming mostly from EU structural funds. It shows very uneven distribution of public aid between the Czech regions on one hand but also the fast development of clusters in those regions which made the use of this funding on the other.
