The aim of this paper is to present selected results of an exploratory study of opinions, understanding of importance and consideration of factors in terms of possible open-source Business Intelligence (BI) adoption by companies in Czech Republic and their eventual motives which could force them to think about implementing open-source BI. The paper emphasizes importance of Business Intelligence software for business and management and indicates role of open-source software in the field of Business Intelligence. Selected results of the research project are presented according to research methods used to conduct and evaluate study findings. Results contain review of open-source BI vendors? offerings and some examples of companies that implemented respective open-source BI software. The paper discusses evaluated research results which revealed important information about perception of key factors concerning open-source BI software.
