Could More Care Reactivate the Market Economy?
Original language description
Recent crisis, often compared with the Great Depression 1929-1933, brought a new impulse to the discussion about future of market economic systems. In an economic theory supporters of broader and deeper interventions and more regulation strengthened their position. At the same time wide and serious restructuring of financial systems became a leading topic of many discussions. Is this the way how to save the market economy? And how should restructuring of financial systems look like? The paper argues that a very high concentration in financial systems and large supranational financial holdings are the basic source of risks for the market system. That is the reason why the too-big-to-fail problem must be the principal and primary goal of any reactivationof the market economy and its restructuring including any reform of regulation and supervision of financial system.
