Analysis of Query Execution Performance in Context of a Traditional and Agile Oriented Multidimensional Data Modeling Approach

  • Original language description

In this paper we assess aspects of the physical processing of database queries executed in the environment of traditional variant of a multidimensional data model in contrast with the variant based on the construction of an anchor schema. These schema variants relate to the field of Business Intelligence system application in organizations for which the speed of complex business question type query execution is an important success factor. Anchor data modeling has the potential to offer noticeable benefits to the field of the multidimensional data model design ? these are also briefly described in the paper. We assess physical processing factors of the query execution and we analyse results using the regression analysis method. Results show predictorswith significant explanatory power that describe substantial amount of variability in the dependent variable (average query execution times). The conclusions indicate several interesting that are useful for further analysis of differences
