  • Original language description

In the energy sector, electricity load forecasting is a strategic process underlying all the decisions of system operators. In fact, demand forecasts relate different time horizons and different aspects of the system. Especially after the energy markets?deregulation, the request for accurate forecasts has increased even more than in the past. Therefore, for decision makers, identifying an appropriate forecasting approach represents the core of the decision process. In this paper, the recent literatureon forecasting models and methods is considered, analysing and classifying it according to the various methodologies adopted. Thus, this paper represents a guideline on the different methodologies that can be used for load forecasting, enriched with practical examples and applications in the ener-gy system.
