Original language description
The aim of this paper is to determine how globalization affects the competitiveness of the economy and to verify the assumption that the more global economy is also more competitive. In the first part of the paper competitiveness is briefly formulated both on the enterprise and on macroeconomic (national economic) level. Special attention is given to the measurement of competitiveness at the macro level using the Global Competitiveness Report and the World Competitiveness Yearbook. Both approaches are validated using the example of the V4 countries. In the second part of the paper the measurement of globalization using the KOF globalization index is described. Then globalization trends are presented on the example of the V4 countries. The assumption that more global economy is also more competitive has been confirmed only partially.
