The impact of inclusion of non-traditional activities on efficiencies in European banking industry using the CCR-I model
Original language description
This paper employes the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to evaluate technical, allocative and cost efficiency. The method is applied to a panel of 24 European banking industries over the years 2008 to 2013. There are created two models - model A which inthe calculation takes into consideration the non-traditional activities of banks and model B which does not. The results indicate that if there are not included the non-traditional activities than it all leads to a biased estimation of cost efficiency.Overall, the results exhibit that cost efficiency has downward trend in years 2008 - 2009 and 2012, technical efficiency has rather a growing trend and allocative efficiency has a downward trend in the years 2008 - 2013.
