Object Role Modeling Perspective Applied to Business Process Modeling
Original language description
ORM (Object-Role-Modeling) is a conceptual approach for information system modeling. Its advantage is a richer and comprehensible possibility for conceptual modeling than traditional UML or ER modeling. Value oriented business process modeling is a specific approach to business process modeling that focuses on tracing the value of economic resources. REA (Resource-Event-Agent) ontology represents this approach to modeling. Although, current REA model utilizes object-oriented principles it aim is to store the resulting entities and their relationships in relation database. In addition, not necessary all entities and relationships of REA model are worth depositing into relational DB. This is just the task of ORM approach to create the core structure of the database solution. The paper analyses an REA business process and derives an adequate model in ORM perspective which can be easily mapped to ER diagrams of the relational database.
